Guides
In 2013, my media art practice shifted focus towards the museum audio guide as a medium through which to filter diverse artistic concerns. The result is a body of narrated audio pieces that offer critical and affective companionship to encounters with artworks, artefacts, museums, libraries, and natural landscapes, reimagining the authoritative voice of the audio guide by emphasising the relational, performative, and participatory aspects of spectatorship. This work hovers at the interstice between exhibition practice and museum mediation, and was the focus of my doctoral studies at the University of Edinburgh.
