“Some are like water, some are like the heat, some are a melody and some are the beat. Sooner or later they all will be gone. Why don't they stay young? ”
If the future's so bright, why are we obsessed with staying young, freezing ourselves in time? An information overload of simultaneous translations, satellite weather reports and defragmenting computer screens, Forever Young is an anthem — part love poem and part lament — to our visions of the future. Do you really want to live forever?
Forever Young was produced as part of Charles Street Video’s 2001 Lo-Fi/Sci-Fi residency, and premièred at the Images Festival, Toronto. Nemer revisited Alphaville’s lyrics in his 2004 subtitling project.
