Forever Young
Video, 2001. English, German, French, American sign language, Swedish.
5 minutes.
“Some are like water, some are like the heat, some are a melody and some are the beat. Sooner or later they all will be gone. Why don't they stay young? ”
An information overload of simultaneous translations, satellite weather reports and defragmenting computer screens, Forever Young is an anthem — part love poem and part lament — to our visions of the future. Do you really want to live forever?
Forever Young was produced as part of Charles Street Video’s 2001 Lo-Fi/Sci-Fi residency, and premièred at the Images Festival, Toronto. Nemer revisited Alphaville’s lyrics in his 2004 subtitling project.
