Bonne Fete

Garden roses, wire, floral tape, performance for group of men, 2012.

The first in an evolving series of floral re-enactments, in which the artist isolates and stages floral scenes and gestures from the history of art and cinema. In this first floral remake, a group of men hold, ponder, and exchange a floral arrangement designed to mimic artist Henri Rousseau's 1892 painting, Bonne Fete.

Bonne Fete was first presented at the opening reception of the exhibition Romantical at the Owens Gallery, Canada, in 2012. This floral re-enactment was followed by Notes on the Flowers of the Soviet War Monument.
